The Region 144 (South Irvine) 2018 Referee Point System

• Every game is worth 4 Referee Points - 2 for the Referee and 1 each for both Assistant Referees.
• Each team can earn no more than 2 Referee Points per week. This ensures there is a fair opportunity for every team to earn their 2 RPs/week.
• The minimum number of RPs required to qualify for the playoff is roughly equivalent to earning 2 RPs/week for 67% of the potential weeks. For example, if a regular season in 10U is 7 games, then each team must earn 9 Referee Points to qualify for the playoffs; 9 games requires 12 RPs.
• Note that a newly certified Basic Referee (or any upgrade to Intermediate or Advanced) earns an additional 2 RPs after they complete their first match as Referee (not Assistant Referee).
• No Referee Points earned as the Match Official or U8 Official on 8U matches.
